Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work properly and to understand how a site is being used. They are not programs and cannot carry viruses. They just store a small piece of information a website can read on your next visit.

2. Cookies Used on This Site

This website is kept deliberately simple, and that is reflected in how few cookies it uses.

Essential cookies are always active. These are strictly necessary for basic site functionality, such as security protections on the contact form. They do not identify you personally.

Contact form (Formspree) is required only if you use the form. The contact form is handled by Formspree, a third-party service. Formspree may use minimal technical cookies to process the submission securely and filter spam. This only applies if you actually use the form, not just from browsing the site. See Formspree's own privacy policy.

Sponsor and application forms (Tally) and payments (Stripe) open on those services' own pages, not on this website. Any cookies they set are governed by their own policies, and you will only meet them if you choose to fill in a form or set up a payment.

Analytics cookies are not currently used. This site does not use Google Analytics or any similar tool to track visitors. If that changes in future, this policy will be updated first, and any such cookies will only be set with your consent.

No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used at all. Nothing on this site follows you to other websites, and your browsing here is never sold or shared with advertisers.

3. Your Consent

Because this site currently uses only essential cookies, and a contact form that only sets anything when you actively choose to use it, there is no separate cookie consent banner. There is nothing optional to ask permission for. If analytics or any other non-essential cookies are introduced in future, a consent request will be added at that point.

4. How to Manage Cookies

Even though this site keeps things minimal, you can view, block or delete any cookies through your browser settings at any time. Search "manage cookies" plus your browser's name (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) for the exact steps, or see the ICO's guidance. Blocking essential cookies may stop the contact form working correctly.

5. Third-Party Services

This website relies on outside services: Google Fonts (Google LLC), which loads the Poppins typeface used across the site (see their privacy policy); Formspree, which processes and delivers messages sent through the contact form; and Cloudflare, which hosts the site. I have no control over cookies set by these services once you interact with them directly.

6. Legal Basis for Using Cookies

The use of cookies here is governed by UK PECR and UK GDPR. Essential cookies are used on the basis of legitimate interest in running a functioning website, and consent is not required as they are strictly necessary. Any future non-essential cookies would only ever be set with your clear consent, which you could withdraw at any time. My full approach to personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy.

7. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated if the website changes, for example if analytics or new tools are introduced. The "Last updated" date above will change whenever that happens, and any significant change will also be reflected in the Privacy Policy.

8. Questions About Cookies

If you have any questions about how this site uses cookies, get in touch: jake@jwcommunitywebsites.co.uk or 07452 752398. You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
