Three parts, and one honest price.

A community gets a website. A sponsor covers the £20 a month it costs. A plain credit shows who made it possible. Here is exactly how each part works.

A community gets a site

I build a fast, hand-made website for the group and host it. There is nothing to install and nothing to log in to. It is free to the group while a sponsor covers it.

A sponsor covers £20 a month

One person or one local business sponsors the site, or a few people share the cost. It is £20 a month, or a little less if the community contributes.

The sponsor is credited

A "Supported by" line in the site's footer and a small panel on its home page name the sponsor and link to them, if they wish.

Where the £20 goes

A sponsorship, not a donation

The £20 a month pays for a real service delivered by one person. It is not passed to the group as cash, and it is not a charitable gift.

JW is not a charity, so Gift Aid does not apply. The money pays for the website to be built, hosted and kept up to date. That is also how I earn a living from this, which is why I would rather be upfront about it.

How the £20 adds up

A site is complete when its £20 is covered

A community's website costs £20 a month. The community can put in whatever it chooses, including nothing, and sponsors cover the rest. It does not matter whether that takes one sponsor or several.

  • A community that can contribute lowers what sponsors pay
  • A business, an individual or a group of neighbours can each cover a share
  • Everyone who contributes to a site is credited on it
The weekly round

What "weekly updates" means

A weekly update round keeps my time predictable, so £20 a month stays fair for everyone.

One batch a week

The group sends all its changes together by the end of Tuesday: news, events, photos, opening times.

Published Wednesday to Friday

I make the changes and publish them that week, between Wednesday and Friday. Anything sent after Tuesday waits for the next round.

My mistakes are free to fix

A wrong date or a broken link on my side is corrected straight away and does not use up a round.

Bigger jobs, like adding a whole new section, are a separate conversation so one large group does not use the time meant for many small ones.

If a sponsor stops

A site never vanishes overnight

There is no contract, so a sponsor can stop at any time. When that happens, the community's site stays live for three months while I look for a new sponsor. If one is not found, I will talk to the group about the options and help them take their site elsewhere. The terms set this out in full.
